Training with the horse in mind.
At Elements Equine Bodyworks, I believe good training starts with listening to the horse. Every horse brings their own history, personality, strengths, and challenges to the arena, and training should take those things into account.
My approach is rooted in ethical horsemanship, clear communication, and respect for the horse without losing the structure and boundaries that good training requires. I want horses to understand what is being asked of them, feel confident in their work, and become willing partners rather than simply learning how to follow a set of cues.
Building a Better Foundation
A big part of my training philosophy is helping horses learn to use their bodies correctly. Balance, strength, coordination, and body awareness all play a role in how a horse moves and performs, and I believe developing those things should be part of the foundation rather than something added later.
I specialize in stock-type horses and Western disciplines, including western horsemanship, ranch riding, and reining fundamentals. I also work with horses of other breeds and backgrounds. Whether you're starting a young horse, developing an All Around prospect, working through a training challenge, or looking to bring more balance and feel into your riding, the program is tailored to the individual horse and rider.
Training and Bodywork
My background in equine bodywork gives me a unique perspective when working with horses. I pay close attention to how a horse moves, carries their body, and responds to different exercises. Equine massage and bodywork are incorporated into my training program, helping support the horse as they develop strength and mobility.
As a boutique training program, I intentionally keep my client list small. This allows me to give each horse and rider individual attention rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. The goal is not simply to get a horse through a training program, but to build a foundation that supports them throughout their career.
Training Services
Horse Training
Full, Half, and Basic training packages available. Bodywork sessions are built into these packages.
Western Riding Lessons
Private instruction for beginner through advanced riders, with an emphasis on horsemanship, communication, balance, and feel. **Please note, lesson horses are not available at this time.
Horse Sales & Consignment
Assistance with preparing and presenting horses for sale when the horse is a good fit for the program.
To maintain a safe and productive training environment, horses entering the program must be well started and cannot be exhibiting dangerous behaviors. Unstarted horses will be taken into training on a case by case basis. Horses with significant behavioral or soundness concerns may be better served by a veterinary, rehabilitation, or specialized training program before entering regular training.
Training services are located at the beautiful Sycamore Canyon Stables in Poway, CA.
Mobile training services are not available at this time. Students must also have access to or own their own horse. We do not have lesson horses at this time.
